Why Shop

W&S Approved?

Sometimes, we buy things.

Luckily, the world has changed, and more and more brands and retailers are offering quality products and services that don’t break the bank or our ecosystem.

At W&S, we ensure that all brands we promote and work with are:

  • Products and services are made by and for people. Here at W&S, we believe people on both sides deserve humanity and respect throughout the entire supply chain. Therefore, we promise only to shout out brands who keep their promises regarding: Freedom of employment and association; The eradication of child labour; Safe and hygienic working conditions; Appropriate pay and working hours; Humane and non-discriminatory treatment; and Anti-bribery and corruption.

  • Research shows that products labelled sustainable or “eco-friendly” might trigger product quality concerns for consumers. This is for many reasons, but one key issue is that brands claiming sustainability have a history of making products that don’t live up to the hype. Luckily for you, times have changed and more and more brands are committed to ditching this model and making genuine commitments to create products that perform the way they’re supposed to. W&S promises only to promote brands whose products are durable, long-lasting and designed well. Sustainable does NOT have to mean substandard.

  • A 2015 study found that as much as 60% of greenhouse gas emissions come from the production of household goods and services alone. The global apparel and footwear industry produces more greenhouse gases than Germany, France, and the UK combined! This leads to extreme weather conditions, shifts in wildlife populations, and rising sea levels. Transforming our consumption patterns to be more conscious of what we buy, while just barely the tip of the iceberg, is one way to help combat these issues. To help encourage a change to a more green economy, we work only with brands committed to conscious waste management and resource use, using clean energy, keeping their water footprints as low as possible, and disposing of waste properly.

  • It’s been shown that animal testing isn’t necessary to create safe consumptive goods for humans today. Instead, animal testing in many instances complicates production due to the need for specialized labour, time-consuming protocols, and high costs. Annually, millions of animals are experimented on, most of which come from breeding centers. This life is defined by isolation from natural instincts, pain, and distress, often leading to euthanization. While animal testing is on the rise, social recognition regarding the ethical issues with doing so is rising in tandem. To help curb the former and increase the ladder, we promise all brands we work with are 100% cruelty-free!
